Founding the stables
Michael Owen founded Manor House Stables in 2007, converting a former cattle barn on his Cheshire estate — with his wife Louise closely involved in the project — into a professional thoroughbred training facility covering roughly 160 acres.
Brown Panther and racing success
Owen's best-known horse as an owner-breeder was Brown Panther, who delivered some of his biggest wins on the track, including success at Royal Ascot. Owen has said that owning and breeding horses feels even more nerve-wracking than playing football at the highest level.
Racing today
Owen remains an active racehorse owner and breeder, regularly discussing form and results across his social media and media appearances, and has even ridden competitively himself, finishing runner-up in a celebrity charity race at Ascot.
