How they met
Michael Owen and Louise Bonsall are childhood sweethearts who met at primary school in the mid-1980s in the Chester/Flintshire area where Owen grew up. Their relationship long predates his football fame, and the pair have stayed together through his entire professional career.
Marriage and family
The couple married in June 2005. They have four children together — Gemma, James, Emily and Jessica — and have kept a relatively low public profile as a family compared with Owen's own media career, aside from moments such as daughter Gemma's appearance on Love Island.
Louise and the family's horses
Louise shares Owen's passion for horses and was closely involved in converting a former cattle barn into what became Manor House Stables. She gave up horse riding herself during her pregnancies but has remained part of the family's racing interests ever since.
